Do Translators and Interpreters have a Code of Ethics?
Yes, indeed. In fact you should never trust any professional without a Code of Ethics. In the Australian context, all NAATI Accredited translators and Interpreters must abide to the AUSIT Code of Ethics which is endorsed by NAATI. What is the difference between a Translator and Interpreter? Whom do I need?
Translators deal with written texts while the interpreters deals with the spoken word. Hence, if your project consists of documents or other written texts, you need a translator. If your project is is oral, you need an interpreter.
What is NAATI Accreditation? Are ATIS' Translators and Interpreters NAATI Accredited?

NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) is a national standards body part owned by the Australian Government (at both state/territorial and commonwealth/federal levels) which accredits translators and interpreters in Australia and overseas. NAATI Accreditation means the translator or interpreter in not only skilled in translating or interpreting but also abides to the AUSIT (Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators Incorporated) Code of Ethics. Many organisations, in particular government bodies, only accept translations done by a NAATI Accredited Translator or interpretations undertaken by a NAATI Accredited Interpreter.
What is the right cost when seeking a NAATI Accredited Translator to do an Official NAATI Translation?
In Australia, there is no standard pricing or industry rate. NAATI Accredited Translators can place their own fees. The cost for a translation service varies mainly depending on the nature and length of the document (e.g. a Birth Certificate versus a multi-paged contract) in addition to the Translator's level of qualification and experience. It must be noted that, like for many products and services, you get what you pay for. While a high price does not necessarily guarantee a better translation, low cost translation are unlikely do be of a satisfactory standard.

How long does Translation Projects take?
Our turnaround for NAATI Certified Spanish <> English Translations of Personal Documents is normally within 24 hours. I got a Translation from overseas. Will it be valid in Australia?
This is a hard question to answer. It frankly depends where you wish to submit the translation and their discretion. However in many cases you may require the document re-translated by a NAATI Translator or the overseas translation to be reviewed and stamped/certified by a NAATI Accredited Translator.
